Douglas Kries is a professor of philosophy at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. His books include Augustine: Political Writings (1994), Piety and Humanity: Essays on Religion and Early Modern Political Philosophy (1997), and The Problem of Natural Law (2007). His new book, Two Wings: Integrating Faith and Reason, cowritten with Brian Clayton, is forthcoming from Ignatius Press. His articles have appeared especially in the Review of Politics and the American Catholic Philosophical Quarterly.
